Cameron Barney advises Connected Kerb on its capital injection of up to £110m from Aviva Investors

September 2022

Cameron Barney LLP (“CB”) is pleased to announce that it acted as exclusive financial adviser to Connected Kerb (the “Company”) in obtaining a substantial long-term funding solution from Aviva Investors to deliver its plans to install and operate 190,000 on-street EV chargers by 2030.

As part of the deal, Connected Kerb will also deploy EV charging infrastructure across the insurer’s pan-European real estate portfolio, which includes over 300 major assets in the UK alone – one of the country’s largest portfolios. Aviva Investors’ commitment to Connected Kerb reflects the priority Aviva is giving to its Climate Transition Strategy - a programme of decarbonisation and commitment to reaching net zero across Aviva Investors’ entire Real Assets business by 2040. Connected Kerb will provide and install EV charging facilities at Aviva’s office, retail, logistics and industrial sites towards achieving carbon neutrality and ensuring they remain relevant as part of the transition towards a low-carbon future.

Connected Kerb is driving a profound change in on-street charging in the UK, making it much easier for those without off-street parking to switch to electric vehicle ownership. The Company has won a number of Local Authority contracts across the UK and expects to have installed some 4,000 chargers country-wide by the end of this year. In addition to its UK presence, Connected Kerb has been selected by the New York City Department of Transport and Newlab to deliver an on-street EV charging pilot project in New York that will provide a blueprint for the city to roll out 10,000 on-street chargers by 2030.

We chose Charles Cameron and his team at Cameron Barney as we were impressed with their professionalism and deep knowledge and success in the UK infrastructure sector. We have always been careful with whom to partner and we felt CB were most aligned to our concerns and needs. In my view, they surpassed our expectations, and we enjoyed working with the entire team to a successful conclusion.
— Peter Howe, Founder & Chairman, Connected Kerb

We are delighted to have advised Connected Kerb on this transformative transaction with Aviva Investors.
